I was in chat professors at College Leadership Conference about the “Green Movement”. I made the reveal that many colleges and businesses are shifting to green initiatives because it is the “in” thing recently. While I sojourn many college campuses I see litter and little to no recycling and I see fraudulent environmental JJargon with no teeth. These professoors stared at me for a consideration, then expressed many of them not grasp what to do to justify the environmental movement on campus.
I agree we often (this includes businesses with New Business theories) surge into this frenzy of doing the “NEW THING” and must no idea how to apparatus it or even if it right for organizational culture and climate. I muse on when the “Fish Philosophy” emergged. Many compannies I was facilitating and consulting on team goals and team skills wanted their training to be “Fish Philosophy”. conclude from the books and studied concerning “Fish Philosophy” created customizzed trainings based on the philosophy. Many of the groupps after I consulted really had no concept of what it really meant. They heard that this was the “IT” thing and thought “WE sooner a be wearing to do this beecause Betty in accounting said it is greeat!” These ideas come and pass like greased lightning and HR as well as Team managers have very little to no thought abbout the long term effects.
This “flavor of the month” creates a culture of fallacious acquire-in. Employees know that if they attend the parties occupy a seat on in the consultant training convention – while creating and illusion of folllowing the new company track – things will go in arrears the way they have always been. A crying wolf culture the team soon becomes numb to new ideas and concepts within the culture. Take care when jumping into the new trends – A new bromide I help that makes me neervous is Generation Y wave of fear and traainings going on – I informed and foretell the irony – I leading lady gen-y trainings myself and I feel that it is not lately a Gen-Y shhift we are universal through it is a full spectrum of all generations at the workplace. If you are going to cheer the “IT” theory think about how it can be implemented into the industry and college university culture. These juggernauts often shift slowly – so choose wisely where to spend time and organizational chaange.
Back to environmentalism WHAT are you and your sense of values doing? It is unexcitedly to develop false claims the challenge to is impplement plans and organizational change.
